2012 Retiree Celebration Honors Retiring Hopkins Teachers

The retiring teachers' experience ranged from 16 to 35 years of service.

Hopkins Public Schools honored this year's retirees on Monday, May 21, at the 2012 Retirement Celebration. The event included a performance by the following High School Orchestra students: Sid Gopinath, Madeline Johnson, Marra Clay and Josh Olson.

This year's retirees included (please note, this list does not include employees taking leaves of absences before retirement, employees who announced their retirements after the deadline for the celebration, and employees who wished for their information to remain confidential):

  • Carol Bracke – 35 years of service. Elementary teacher at Glen Lake.
  • Doug Pelcak – 33 years of service. Counselor at Glen Lake
  • Tina Housker –33 years of service. Elementary teacher at Glen Lake.
  • Steve Dahl – 33 years of service. School social worker at Glen Lake.
  • JoAnn Berg Bablitch – 32 years of service. Special Services coordinator at Transition Plus.
  • Deb Ukura – 31 years of service. Youth programs coordinator for community education.
  • Kay Olsen-Thomson – 31 years of service. Speech and language teacher at Harley Hopkins.
  • Linda Zimmerman – 28 years or service. Instructor at Kids & Co.
  • Sarah Ham – 25 years of service. Instructor at Kids & Co.
  • Dan E. Sterud –24 years of service. Counselor at the high school.
  • Barbara LaTondresse – 24 years of service. Language arts teacher at the Hopkins High School.
  • Mary LaBelle – 24 years of service. Challenge teacher at Tanglen.
  • Judy Schilichting – 23 years of service. Adult Basic Education Instructor at Eisenhower Community Center.
  • Nancy Marcy – 23 years of service. Physical education teacher, curriculum coordinator for health and physical education.
  • Marty Mason – 22 years of service. Elementary teacher at Alice Smith.
  • Jon Marie Fox – 21 years of service. Special services school social worker at Harley Hopkins.
  • Susan Johnson – 21 years of service. Elementary teacher at Meadowbrook.
  • Sara Forsberg – 21 years of service. Elementary teacher at Meadowbrook.
  • George Rota – 19 years of service. Media specialist at Glen Lake.
  • Sandy Colomb – 19 years of service. French teacher at North Junior High.
