(VIDEO) Has Southwest Light Rail Jumped the Shark?

Councilman Rick Brausen worries that the conversation is 'weakening.'

The prospect of a light-rail line running through Hopkins has been one of the major guiding visions for city planners.

Yet that vision faces stiff opposition from opponents who say the project is too expensive and not appropriate from the tough economic times. The House Transportation Committee head even pledged to stop the Southwest light rail line "in its tracks."

That has Councilman Rick Brausen worried that enthusiasm for the project is waning. After Metropolitan Council member Jennifer Munt pledged to support Hopkins, Brausen said he fears the conversation is weakening.
