The first is Hopkins’ 2011 street and utility improvement project, which is scheduled to start in late May. Streets will be replaced in the area south of Highway 7 and north of Second Street North—between 12th and 17th Avenues North. Street replacements will also take place on North Service Drive east of 12th Avenue.

Workers will also upgrade utilities and storm sewer in the area.

Construction should be complete by October.

In addition to the street-replacement project, the city will also be doing ongoing maintenance for its streets and sidewalks.

CenterPoint Energy also plans a five-week project at the Intersection of Highway 7 and Blake Road—a project that is necessary to ensure the safe delivery of natural gas.

Highway 7 will remain open, but cross traffic and some turning traffic will be affected. Workers will post detours and information about alternate routes. The company has not set a specific start date, but it will provide advance warning before beginning.
