See one more effect of the shutdown: Because of the state government shutdown, Hopkins is without an electrical inspector and can’t issue electrical permits. The council plans to pass an emergency ordinance Tuesday that will allow master or journeyman electricians to perform the inspections instead. Once the ordinance is approved, the city plans to contract with the state inspector who was doing the inspections before the government shutdown.
