City Council Candidate Forum

The League of Women Voters will be hosting a forum for the Hopkins City Council candidates on Thursday, October 10 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Hopkins City Hall. Audience members will have an opportunity to submit questions to all of the candidates. The forum will be televised on cable channel 16. It will also be streaming live through the City’s website.

Southwest Twin Cities Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Proclamation Ceremony & Celebration

On October 12th, a celebration will be held proclaiming of Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and St Louis Park as official Beyond the Yellow Ribbon cities in Downtown Park beginning at 4 PM. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a statewide organization that provides community support for military service members, guard, reserves, veterans and their families.

Events include:

  • Military & Veterans Family Recognition
  • Military Vehicle Display
  • Exhibits about Available Resources
  • Proclamation Ceremony
  • Guest Speakers & Entertainment

Fire Department Open House

The annual open house at the Fire Department will take place on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hopkins Fire Station. See Open House for more information.

Free Home Fire Inspection

The Hopkins Fire Department is offering free home fire safety surveys and home safety education. Households signing up for this program will also receive a free fire extinguisher and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. The program is being funded by a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The program is completely free and does not include any fines, fees or solicitations and all information is confidential and left with the household to help make them safer from fire and household hazards.

Fall 2013 FREE Brush Pick Up Date

Twice a year, the City provides free brush pick up for residential refuse customers. This fall, brush will be collected FREE on Tuesday, October 15. You may start calling to schedule your free pick-up beginning Tuesday, October 8. Go to Brush Pick-Up for more information.
