New City Manager to Start Aug. 22

Mike Mornson will be paid $115,000.

Mike Mornson will start in Hopkins on Aug. 22 following the City Council’s unanimous approval Tuesday of an employment agreement with the incoming city manager.

The agreement—which formalizes Mornson as —stipulates that he’ll be paid a salary of $115,000 and receive a $450-per-month car allowance.

The city will also pay certain costs for memberships to professional organizations, conferences, seminars and other training opportunities—subject to council approval. Hopkins will also pay for Mornson to join one local service organization.

Mornson will stop by the city July 27 to meet department heads again during a staff meeting. He also attended the Raspberry Festival parade, said Jim Genellie, Hopkins' acting city manager.

“He’s anxious to get started,” Genellie said.
