The award recognizes the city's environmentally friendly efforts.

The city was recognized at the annual League of Minnesota Cities Conference last week for becoming a Step 3 City in the Minnesota GreenStep Cities Program.

Minnesota GreenStep Cities challenges cities to reach their sustainability goals by implementing 28 best practices that focus on cost savings and energy use reduction. Each best practice can be implemented by choosing one more more actions from a list of four to eight choices.
