Filing for Hopkins Elections Opens Tuesday

The filing period runs from Aug. 2 to Aug. 16.

Filing for two local elections starts Tuesday.

The Hopkins City Council has three members whose terms expiring this year—Mayor Gene Maxwell, Councilman Rick Brausen and Councilman Bruce Rowan.

On the school board, four director terms expire—Yvonne Selcer, Wendy Donovan, Ellen Dustman and Irma McIntosh Coleman.

Here’s how you can file.

City Council or Mayor

  • Filing date: 8 a.m. Aug. 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 16
  • Filing cost: $5
  • Filing location: File an affidavit of candidacy with the city clerk at City Hall (1010 First Street S.)
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be …
    • Must live in Hopkins.

  • Filing date: Aug. 2 to Aug. 16

  • Filing location: Hopkins Public Schools' district offices (1001 Highway 7, Hopkins)
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be …
    • at least 21 years of age,
    • an eligible voter,
    • a resident who has lived in the Hopkins Public Schools district for at least 30 days.
