Ellison Chooses Kucinich Chief of Staff as New Legislative Director

Vic Edgerton will start with Ellison’s office in Washington, DC, April 24.

Nearly two weeks after Rep. Keith Ellison announced a new district director, the 5th District congressman has named his new legislative director.

Vic Edgerton, who was Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s chief of staff for the past three years, will join Ellison’s office April 24, his office announced Tuesday. He replaces Jamie Long, who will be moving to Minnesota to become district director at the end of the month.

Long replaces current District Director Will Hailer, who’s leaving to become executive director of the Texas Democrat Party on April 26.

Ellison said he’s happy to have Edgerton coming on board.

“I am proud to have Vic lead a legislative team that is responsive to the needs of Minnesota’s 5th District and our nation,” a news release quoted Ellison. “At a time when many working families are scraping by on less, Vic has a true commitment to policies that invest in the middle class. Vic is not only an experienced legislative staff member, but a policy expert with a strong background in environmental and health policy.”

For Ellison to choose a disciple of Dennis Kucinich, the former Cleveland mayor who destroyed that city, again shows Ellison's lack of good judgment. And when Ellison says Edgerton has a "commitment to the middle class," it's another way of saying "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." Minneapolis residents are regretting their decision that they didn't elect the much more qualified Chris Fields.

257636 voters or 74.3% of CD5 voters reelected Representative Ellison. Apparently Rep. Ellison, his political staff, and volunteers know how to run a successful campaign in spite of your comments. If you live in SD5, Mike B lives ind CD3, you are welcome to field a competing candidate and vote as you chose. That is democracy.

Those of us that live in CD5 know that it includes more than just residents of the City of Minneapolis. For someone to say Chris Fields is more qualified than the incumbent Congressman is amusing, given his lack of experience in an elected position. And calling a federal office worker a "disciple" of their former supervisor . . . might be funny if it were a cartoon, but basically just looks like caricaturing.
