Arvidson Holds Hopkins Fundraiser With Fields

David Arvidson was joined by GOP congressional candidate Chris Fields at a campaign fundraiser in Hopkins Thursday night.

, running as a Republican candidate for the state House in District 46B, last night held a campaign fundraiser at Hopkins’ Main Street Bar and Grill. Arvidson is challenging DFL incumbent Rep. Steve Simon, a St. Louis Park attorney who has served in the House since 2004.

A 53-year-old father of three and self-employed businessman, Arvidson was joined by Chris Fields, who is challenging incumbent DFL candidate Keith Ellison in Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District.

“David Arvidson gets us, and I can tell you I was excited at the possibility of doing an event with David,” Fields said. “David has the kind of character we want to support going forward.”

In his first time running for office, Arvidson spent time chatting up supporters before giving a brief speech emphasizing his libertarian values.

 “I am a limited government guy,” he told the dozen or so Hopkins residents who gathered to hear his speech. “We are in the mess we’re in now because you (voters) gave politicians too much power, plain and simple. We need to take that power back.”

Arvidson said his campaign did not have any further events scheduled for the immediate future.
