(UPDATE 2) Tornado Warning Dropped to Tornado Watch

The storm is moving north, leaving Hennepin County

Update 2:58 p.m.: The National Weather Service has downgraded the tornado warning to a tornado watch. The tornado watch will remain in effect through 8 p.m.

Update 2:37 p.m.: MPR reports that the circulation that started at Highway 100 and Interstate 394 has moved north of Interstate 694 and is continuing to travel north into Anoka County. Tornadoes have been spotted in St. Louis Park, North Minneapolis and Fridley.

The National Weather Service upgraded its alert to a tornado warning Sunday afternoon.

Minnesota Public Radio reports that spotters saw a tornado at Highway 100 and Interstate 394 at 2:15 p.m. moving northeast.

The most dangerous part of the storm is near St. Louis Park and moving north at 40 mph.

A tornado warning indicated that residents should immeidately take shelter.
