(VIDEO) 'Ready, Willing and Able' for Tornado Relief Special Session
Special sessions have taken place during busy times before.
Minnesota Speaker of the House Rep. Kurt Zellers (R-32B) said the Legislature is able to meet in a special session to consider relief for residents hurt by Sunday’s tornado. Lawmakers are still trying to reach a budget compromise before the end of today, but Zellers noted that the Legislature has proven capable of offering relief in the past.
“We were able in an election year in October to come in and take care of the flood and the tornado damage last year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak urges residents not to rush to award repair work to contractors, some of whom may be unscrupulous.

“Please don’t sign anything. Give it time to rest,” he said he told residents a few hours after the storm.
