Christopher Lee Tritten, 40, has been charged with first-degree assault.

A homeless Tucson, AZ, man is in jail following accusations that he kicked a man in the face repeatedly last week in Hopkins, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

Christopher Lee Tritten, 40, has been charged with first-degree assault—a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.

On Saturday, an unidentified man told police he’d been attacked by a bald man wearing camouflage pants and a black backpack, according to charging documents filed by Detective Renee Meuwissen.

The victim’s face was covered in blood, his left eye was swollen shut and he had several cuts on his face. Hospital staff later told investigators the man had an “orbital blowout fracture”—when the thin part of the eye socket cracks or ruptures, according to an Aetna medical guide. He also had injuries to his ear, bruises and cuts that required stitches.

In a later interview, the victim said he had been in an unspecified restaurant with Tritten. After they left the restaurant, Tritten kicked him repeatedly in the face, the man said.

Surveillance footage from the restaurant showed Tritten and the victim at the restaurant together.

Officers found a man matching the suspect’s description—later identified as Tritten—near the scene of the assault, according to court documents. Police logs show that officers arrested Tritten in at 3:37 a.m. Saturday.

Tritten admitted being near the scene of the assault and having “elbowed” someone, according to court documents. Officers noted scrape marks and dried blood on his hands.

He is being held in Hennepin County jail on $150,000 bail.
