Man Leads Police on High-Speed Chase Between Golden Valley and Hopkins

The chase reportedly reached speeds of 110 mph.

A driver led Golden Valley police on a chase early Tuesday morning that culminated near Hopkins’ Mainstreet, Hopkins Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said.

The chase began when Golden Valley officers tried to stop the driver at 12:46 a.m.

Golden Valley crime analyst Joanne Paul said that the chase orginated near Interstate 394 and Highway 169. Four Golden Valley police officers tried to stop the man during the four-mile pursuit, according to Paul.

Audio recorded by Police Clips stated that police reached speeds of 110 mph as they excelerated down southbound Highway 169.

Glassberg said the chase finished at Fifth Avenue and Mainstreet when the driver tried to run away. Paul said the 44-year-old man faces two controlled substance charges along with speeding, fleeing a police officer, fourth-degree DWI charges and failure to have a Minnesota driver's license.

Hopkins police assisted with the man’s arrest.

There were no injuries or property damage.
