According to the criminal complaints, signed by Eden Prairie Police Detective Kyle Duchschere, police were called to a residential burglary in Eden Prairie on June 12.

The homeowner told officers that he entered his garage that morning to leave for work and found a man, later identified as Hansen, standing beside his car. The victim said Hansen was holding a knife and appeared to be using it to try to break into the car.

The victim screamed at Hansen, who fled, dropping the knife in a neighboring driveway and jumping into a waiting vehicle, according to the complaints.

Police tracked down the suspects’ car and arrested Harris, who was driving the vehicle. Hansen fled on foot but was arrested nearby, the complaints say.

The burglary victim identified Hansen as the man who had been standing in his garage, according to the complaints.

Harris told police that he had been driving Hansen around but denied doing anything wrong, according to Duchschere’s accounts. Hansen said he had been in the victim’s driveway but that he hadn’t entered the garage.

Hansen’s criminal record includes a 2005 conviction for attempted first-degree burglary and a 2006 conviction for check forgery.
