Hopkins Police Drop off 'Toys for Tots'

Hopkins was one of about 20 metro departments that dropped off toys Monday at the Golden Valley Police Department.

Hopkins police helped make Christmas a little more merry for children in need.

The was one of about 20 metro departments that dropped off toys Monday at the as part of a Toys for Tots event.

For the past 16 years, police have collected toys at local departments and then all met up at Golden Valley in preparation for a Toys for Tots parade to the KARE 11 drop-off site.

The effort has collected thousands of toys in past years.

Hopkins police collected several dozen of those toys, Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said. They also collected an unknown amount of cash that officers used to buy toys.

Two officers then traveled to Golden Valley to drop off the donations.
