Hopkins Emergency Response Unit Assists After Reports of Shots Fired in Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie Police stated they responded to a report of gunshots heard inside an apartment at Eden Place Apartments about 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning.

A man and woman are both dead following a Saturday morning incident in Eden Prairie.  

Eden Prairie Police responded to a 911 call approximately 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 on a report of gunshots heard inside an apartment at Eden Place Apartments on the 8600 block of Magnolia Trail, according to the Eden Prairie Police Department

Nearby residents were evacuated as a safety precaution as police attempted to make contact with the occupants of the apartment.

“After Police were unable to make contact with the occupants of the unit, the Eden Prairie Emergency Response Unit was called to the scene and made initial entrance into the apartment, where the body of a deceased adult female was discovered. For the safety of first responders, additional resources including robotic devices were utilized to make further entry into the unit, where the body of a deceased adult male was found. Police were also able to locate weapons inside the apartment,” according to Eden Prairie Police

Residents of Eden Place Apartments were allowed to re-enter the building. Police say they are not looking any additional suspects and “there is no related threat to the public.”

The Eden Prairie Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Eden Prairie Police received tactical assistance from emergency response units in Edina, Minnetonka, Hopkins and Saint Louis Park. The Bloomington Police Bomb Squad responded and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the death investigation.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has not yet released the names of the deceased individuals.

Eden Prairie Police say the case is currently an active investigation.
