(SLIDESHOW) Five Ways of Looking at Hopkins Fire Trends

The Hopkins Fire Department saw even more calls in 2011.

Firefighters had a busy year in 2011. On average, they responded to more than three calls a day.

That doesn’t mean Hopkins is burning down, though. With actual fires accounting for less than 4 percent of the calls, firefighters were called out for many other duties.

In addition, the department spent significant time on responsibilities not related to emergency calls—including 190 fire inspections and more than 275 hours of public education.
