Edina Man Suspected in Bow and Arrow Drive-By at Blake School
Hopkins police found the name of the suspect, 25-year-old Kirk Martin Rader, on a tool left at the scene.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office on Monday issued a warrant for an Edina man suspected of shooting a bow and arrow at the front door, announced.
Police went to the school at 9:18 p.m. Friday in response to a shots-fired complaint, according to charging documents written by Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg. The janitor told police that he saw a man, later identified as 25-year-old Kirk Martin Rader, pull up in front of the middle school in a dark-colored BMW, shoot an arrow in the front door, retrieve the arrow and drive away.
Security footage corroborated the janitor’s account.

Additional arrows were later recovered from some trees on school property, according to a Police Department news release.
The BMW’s registration traced back to Rader. When officers went to his home, they found the BMW and a bow lying in the backseat.
Prosecutors have charged Rader with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, a felony with a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He’s also been charged with fourth-degree criminal damage to property, a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
He is not in custody.
