Blotter: Sword-Toting Visitors

Monday, July 16

  • 7:54 a.m. — A Ninth Avenue North resident told police someone stole an air conditioner and skill saw from a driveway. The items were last seen 15 minutes earlier.
  • 11:05 p.m. — A Meadow Creek resident reported that two men were knocking on the door and had a metal object that looked like a sword. The people left in a silver Pontiac Sunfire with black rims driven by a woman.
  • 11:55 p.m. — Police received a report that a white cargo van was seen backing up to the building and then speeding away once it had seen the caller. The building was secure and there were no signs of anything suspicious.

Tuesday, July 17

  • 4:02 p.m. — A caller told police a man stole $400 worth of property, along with miscellaneous card, from a vehicle parked on the 100 block of 12th Avenue South. The property was located.
  • 6:08 p.m. — A man was caught stealing cigarettes at the Blake Road Holiday. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center Special Care.

  • 10:40 a.m. — A Drillane Road man said he thinks his neighbors are making false reports about him and asked police to note that.
  • 4:21 p.m. — Police ticketed a man for theft, disorderly conduct and assault at .
  • 6:46 p.m. — A woman said her husband assaulted her. Officers took him into custody.

Thursday, July 19

  • 6:15 a.m. — A person was reported picking through the trash near . The suspect was taken to Hennepin County jail.
  • 9:23 a.m. — A caller told police someone stole their iPhone phone at the day before.
  • 10:59 a.m. — A Fourth Street North resident told police the home’s doorframe was broken and that the home may have been broken into. Nothing was taken, and a note was left by the landlord. 
  • 11:53 a.m. — A GPS and credit card were stolen from a van parked at Meadow Creek Condos.
  • 1:09 p.m. — Someone tried to use a fake check at US Grocery & Tobacco.
