Blotter: Suspicious Pink Bags and Luring Children Away

Monday, June 18
- 11:09 a.m. — A parent told police a man tried to get their 9-year-old son to go with him near . Police were unable to locate the man. He is described as a black man with short hair and a mustache who was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
- 12:58 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a fight between a man and a woman at .
Tuesday, June 19
- 8:12 a.m. — Someone went through an unlocked vehicle parked on the 1400 block of Cambridge Street. Nothing was missing, and there was no damage.
- 2:51 a.m. — Police took a man to the Hennepin County jail following a report of suspicious activity in a Knollwood parking lot.
- 5:34 p.m. — A 19th Avenue North resident told police someone has been entering her home, moving items, damaging walls and taking cash, a credit card and a check. She had no evidence of anybody doing those things but was suspicious of everyone she saw in the area.
- 8:00 p.m. — A Mark I Apartments resident told police there was a “suspicious box and pink bag” near the front door. The box appeared to have stationery, a bus pass and unopened mail inside. Police are trying to contact the owner of the items.
- 8:09 p.m. — Police received a call that a man had cut through a yard and was stumbling west across Excelsior Boulevard near Batteries Plus. He had a cut above his eye when officers found him.

- 7:02 a.m. — Two men and a woman were reported disorderly and trespassing at Peace Valley Townhomes.
- 9:24 a.m. — Police received a report that a man was working on his car at Westside Village, where he was using the complex’s bathroom and sauna and urinating on the property. He was gone when officers arrived.
- 10:45 a.m. — Someone stole $62.50 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a Sixth Avenue North home.
- 11:43 a.m. — Someone broke into a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier parked at . A socket set was stolen, and the vehicle was damaged.
- 12:46 p.m. — Police investigated another vehicle break-in at Knollwood Towers West.
- 1:06 p.m. — told police that an upset customer broke two doors, causing about $500 worth of damage.
- 1:12 p.m. — Police learned that eight or nine people were fighting at , including one man choking another man.
- 3:52 p.m. — Minnehaha Creek Watershed District reported thefts from vacant houses on Lake Street Northeast that took place the evening of June 13.
Thursday, June 21
- 2:31 a.m. — Two women were reported running around a front yard and driveway. Officers released the drunk parties to a sober person.
- 4:01 a.m. — An Oakwood Road resident reported items missing from a vehicle.
- 5:02 a.m. — Police learned that someone entered a Boyce Street home and garage.
- 5:25 a.m. — Officers learned that someone stole $300 worth of property from vehicles in the driveway of an Ashley Road home.
- 2:27 p.m. — Tools were stolen from a 17th Avenue North garage.
- 5:46 p.m. — Someone broke into a vehicle at Knollwood Towers West.
- 7:20 p.m. — A purse and contents were found scattered in front of a Mazda mini van that had been broken while it was parked at 10th Avenue South.
- 7:51 p.m. — A Westside Village woman told police that two people were cursing at her and yelling at her in front of children. She said she wanted police to be aware because management would not help.
- 8:47 p.m. — Another vehicle was reported to be broken into at Knollwood Towers West. The thieves stole a remote and small statue worth $35.
- 10:26 p.m. — Police received a report that someone was shooting off a Greenfield Apartments balcony at a streetlight. Officers issues a nuisance property notice.
