Blotter: Sleeping on the Tracks and ‘Inappropriate Activities’

Sunday, May 6

  • 1:27 a.m. — Police arrested a man after he pushed a woman down against brick at the .
  • 2:31 p.m. — Someone vandalized the inside of a locked garage on the 900 block of 11th Avenue South. The drywall was damaged and there was writing on the wall. Nothing was taken, and there was no damage to the locked vehicle inside.
  • 10:37 p.m. — Residents reported that a man was singing too loud outside Peace Valley Townhomes. Police talked to the man.

Monday, May 7

  • 1:23 p.m. — Someone dumped a fish house on the 400 block of 11th Avenue South. The owner was located.
  • 2:03 p.m. — Someone stole catalytic converters from two loaner vehicles parked at . The catalytic converters were worth $350 each, and damage to the piping near the converters was estimated at $350 each.
  • 3:40 p.m. — Officers arrested a 52-year-old Hopkins woman on the 1300 block of Oxford Street following allegations that she hit a teenaged relative with an extension cord, leaving welts, Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said. Prosecutors charged the woman with two counts of fifth-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor. Her pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 4.
  • 5:38 p.m. — Residents saw a woman ducking down in a sedan while parked at the dead end of Meadowbrook Road. Police advised her to take her “inappropriate activities” elsewhere.

  • 8:38 a.m. — Someone broke into a vehicle parked on 17th Avenue North and stole a GPS device.
  • 11:59 a.m. — Police responded to a burglary on Farmdale Road East. The garage door was open and the front door appeared to be damaged.

Wednesday, May 9

  • 5:42 p.m. — Officers went to Oak Ridge Apartments in response to an attempted break-in. The lock was damage. Police investigated another burglary there at 8:03 p.m.

  • 10:07 a.m. — Someone cut a catalytic converter off a vehicle parked at .
  • 11:38 a.m. — Officers received a report of three catalytic converters stolen from vehicles over the weekend at 604 12th Ave. S.
  • 1:34 p.m. — Residents told police that a drunken woman was pounding on windows at Raspberry Ridge Co-op. Officers made a reservation for her at the 1800 Chicago Service Center.
  • 8:20 p.m. — There was a fight in the laundry room of .

  • 2:10 p.m. — A passers-by flagged down an officer at Blake Road North and Second Street Northeast to report that someone was on the railroad tracks west of . Officers found a man on the tracks sleeping in a sleeping bag and spoke him.
  • 4:28 p.m. — Someone threw something at Home Town Auto Care, causing $600 damage to the window and the frame.
  • 11:44 p.m. — Police responded to an unspecified burglary on the 100 block of Oak Glen Drive.

  • 9:44 a.m. — A Baja Twist Scooter was stolen from .
  • 1:59 p.m. — Someone stole bicycles from a garage sale on the 300 block of 11th Avenue North.
  • 3:57 p.m. — Someone stole an unspecified vehicle on the 300 block of 17th Avenue North.
