Blotter: A Crop of Vehicle, Garage Burglaries

A twice-weekly selection of incidents drawn from Hopkins police files.

Friday, July 6

  • 6:52 a.m. — Police received a report that someone went through a vehicle parked on Van Buren Avenue.
  • 7:10 a.m. — A resident told police someone broke into a home on the 100 block of Ashley Road and stole computers and cash.
  • 7:49 a.m. — Police learned that someone went through a vehicle in a garage on the 100 block of Van Buren Avenue. Nothing was missing.
  • 9:10 a.m. — A resident reported that someone went through two vehicles on the 1300 block of Boyce Street and stole a Garmin GPS and Ray Ban sunglasses, worth $300 total.
  • 9:49 a.m. — Someone entered a garage and went through the vehicle. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, and there were no signs of forced entry.
  • 3:39 a.m. — A phone was reported stole at .
  • 3:49 a.m. — Someone stole two purple bikes from an Eighth Avenue North home.
  • 7:16 p.m. — Police learned that someone went through a garage and vehicle on the 100 block of Van Buren Avenue.
  • 8:46 p.m. — A Jackson Avenue resident reported that someone stole a credit card and used it at a gas station in Golden Valley.
  • 9:12 p.m. — reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill.
  • 11:24 p.m. — A resident told police a passenger in an older Suburban threw a firecracker out of the window near Excelsior Boulevard and Highway 169.  

Saturday, July 7

  • 11:08 a.m. — A resident on the 200 block of Ashley Road told police someone broke into the garage and went through the vehicle.
  • 12:08 p.m. — Police went to in response to a report of a belligerent drunk man. Officers issued a trespass notice and released him to his wife.  
  • 1:42 p.m. — A Harrison Avenue resident told police someone went through a vehicle in an unlocked garage sometime Thursday night or Friday morning.

Sunday, July 8

  • 2:41 a.m. — Officers went to Driskill’s Foods following a report that someone was screaming. Officers took one person to Methodist Hospital and sent the others home.
  • 2:41 p.m. — Police went to a Van Buren home to investigate a report of a Friday morning garage burglary.
