Biker Narrowly Escapes Injury in Blake Road Crash

A 25-year-old man was thrown from his motorcycle after being hit by a car.

A motorcyclist had a close call Sunday afternoon after being hit by a car, according to a news release.

The 25-year-old had stopped for a pedestrian at the regional trail crossing on the 200 block of Blake Road. A driver who was distracted and not paying close attention did not see the motorcyclist and rear-ended him.

The crash threw the man from his motorcycle. Although he was not wearing a helmet, he received only minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.

Police ticketed the motorcyclist for failure to wear a helmet, a requirement for those driving under instructional permits. The driver of the car was not ticketed but will be listed as at fault in the report.

Minnesota law doesn't require helmets for motorcycle drivers with full motorcycle licenses, but police strongly recommended that motorcyclists wear one to avoid serious head injuries.
