.6 Grams of Hashish Leads to Felony Charge

Hopkins police found the drug on the man while responding to a domestic assault report.

A Lakeville man faces a felony drug charge after Hopkins officers found six-tenths of a gram of hashish on him during his arrest.

Police went to the area near 11th Avenue South and Westbrooke Way in Hopkins in response to a report of domestic assault Monday, Investigator Stacy Lakotas wrote in the charging documents.

Officers wound up arresting  the man, 24-year-old William Russell Bremner-Winston, according to court documents. While searching him as part of that arrest, police found a clear glass container with suspected hashish, which later field-tested positive.

Bremner-Winston has been charged with fifth-degree controlled substance possession—which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a $3,000 to $10,000 fine.

He was released from Hennepin County jail Tuesday on $3,000 bond arising from the assault charge. Additional bond was not required for the felony drug charge.
