Letter: 'Jan Callison Is a Respected Leader'

"By voting to re-elect Jan Callison as a Hennepin County Commissioner, we will keep in office one member of the County Board who is responsive to her constituents, not to a single party."

To the editor:

Why should we bother to vote on November 6?

We've heard too many stories about dishonest politicians, unethical candidates, the unwillingness of elected officials to work across party lines to address serious issues, and about our tax dollars being wasted.  For all of those reasons, we MUST vote this year; to make sure we keep the ethical, capable people in office who have proven worthy of our trust!

By voting to re-elect Jan Callison as a Hennepin County Commissioner, we
will keep in office one member of the County Board who is responsive to her
constituents, not to a single party.  Jan has proven as a city council
member, mayor and county commissioner that she will work hard to spend our
tax dollars wisely; that she will communicate frequently and honestly with
community members; that she will earn our respect with thoughtful
representation.

Jan's achievements are awesome considering the current political
environment.   She worked tirelessly to bring a new library to Excelsior.
She worked with impressive political skill and persuasion to bring Hopkins
into the County 911 Dispatch System, saving Hopkins residents a huge amount
of money.  She worked to gain the trust of the communities in her district,
learning about the issues important to each and then moving them forward.

We are fortunate to have this smart, capable, responsive, respected,
experienced leader as our representative on the county board.  And, she is
willing to serve again in an often stressful environment.

Vote for Jan Callison for Hennepin County Commissioner.

Wanted: Large corporation executive with lots of stock options to consider buying home from current owners at a price of current owner's acquisition cost, improvement costs and maintenance costs. Disclosure: Your value may decline after you buy and your property taxes may still increase. Your "Respected Leaders" like to fight to increase spending and taxation. There are unlimited ways to spend your tax dollars and your pocket book is assumed to be bottomless. Someone who gets the sarcasm and truly respects your pocketbook is Dave Wahlstedt. Do yourself a favor and vote for people who realize that we can't have every government unit trying to tax and spend us to Florida. Please vote Dave Walhstedt on Nov. 6th.

A vote for Callson is a vote for the same old: more government and taxes. A vote for Wahlstedt means fiscal responsibility and lower YES lower property taxes. He has my vote.

Jan Callison has a record of consistent public service. I will vote for her in next week's election.
