BETSY SCHEURER ANDERSON HAS EARNED RE-ELECTION TO HOPKINS SCHOOL BOARD

In her eight years on the Hopkins School Board, Betsy Scheurer Anderson has demonstrated important qualities of an outstanding leader: vision, knowledge, engagement, accessibility and commitment.  Her first year was baptism by fire.  District 270 was deeply in debt, the superintendent resigned and was replaced by an interim superintendent, Katherine Curran Elementary School was closed and new school boundaries drawn.  Betsy was a strong participant in these difficult decisions, and the school district has rebounded to where it now has waiting lists for families wishing to open-enroll their children.

Betsy is committed to educational excellence.  She has championed embedding challenging new programs for all children, and this year STEM and Spanish are now part of every elementary school curriculum.  As a proud graduate of Hopkins High (’97), she is an unabashed supporter of the school district and public education, but her commitment goes beyond school board meetings.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts and the Minnesota School Boards Association, and she co-chairs the district’s Legislative Action Coalition.   In addition to these responsibilities, Betsy is also president of the Golden Valley Rotary Club, living and breathing that organization’s motto, “Service Above Self”.

Now completing her second term, Betsy Scheurer Anderson deserves re-election to the Hopkins School Board.  District 270 needs her leadership, vision, and commitment as it moves forward with educational excellence for all children.
