Passionate Personal Photography

Finding your passion in the photography world is not always easy.  It's easy in today's world of social media and the internet to see a plethora of amazing photos in neat locations, with awesome subjects, taken with expensive cameras.  Then you wonder, how can I do something like that? Today's post will describe a few ways to hopefully find your passion and keep-up your photography hobby!

1.  Is it all about the gear?  Not in any way, shape, or form.  While a diverse set of gear can definitely help you with your creativity, you can take amazing photos with what you have whether it's a camera phone, point-and-shoot, or high-end DSLR.  I love my instagram for this exact reason!

2.  Try shooting a little bit of everything in the beginning.  Do you enjoy photographing people, candid street photography, a tiny insect, or flowers? There is no right or wrong and in the beginning you should definitely try it all.

3.  Can't find any inspiration in the world as a whole?  Don't fret, it's about high-time you try macro photography, photography of the small things. Flowers are a great way to try your hand at this closeup photography. Focus on the small things that most people miss.  Not only will you get some unique images but it'll give you a better appreciation in a world where our noses are so often stuck in a computer.

4.  Just GO DO IT.  Sitting at home thinking about how everyone has neat subjects won't help you get neat subjects.  Be proactive and call people - setup meetings.  Want to try and get backstage at a local concert?  Cold call and express your interest or just show-up and do it.  The WORST that can happen is that someone says no.  You'll never know unless you try...

5.  Combine your passions.  As I alluded to in the caption of my photo, I love being outdoors; so, I combine my love of the outdoors and  photography into personal landscape photography.  Do you enjoy hot air balloons?  Go to a festival and take a ton of photos.  Do you love animals, volunteer your photography skills at a local humane shelter.  If you can think it, you can probably do it.
