Grow at the Hopkins Library! Grow your perennials....grow your brain.

Grow your perennials... While the weather may not yet feel like spring, you can still start planning for beautiful garden blooms to enjoy when warmer weather finally arrives.  A Master Gardener will talk about perennial flower gardening on Tuesday, May 10, from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Learn how to grow plants that you will enjoy year after year, including their care, ideal locations soil condition, pest control and varieties ideal for Minnesota.  This may be just  the event to get you out of the cold weather blues and thinking about spring!

Grow your brain... Did you know of American aged 65 and over, 1 in 8 has Alzheimer's,  and nearly half of people aged 85 and older have the disease?  Learn how to maintain a brain-healthy lifestyle and improve the way your brain works on Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m.  Topics, based on scientific evidence, will focus on how the brain changes with age, how the heart and brain are connected, and how social connections and emotional health affect your brain.  Presented in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association.
