Katie Johnson of Hopkins has been selected to the USA Women's Sevens Team that will compete in the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow, Russia. That event will take place June 28 through 30.
Johnson was a stand-out rugby player for the Hopkins Royals Girls Rugby Team, and played for the USA Under-20 Women's National Team before being selected to the USA Women's Sevens Team. She leaves today to train with the team at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. The team will be competing for the Women's Rugby World Cup trophy in Moscow.
