The Hopkins Varsity Girls Rugby Team ended their regular season on May 22 with a sound 27-5 win over Edina at Edina's home pitch. Scoring trys for Hopkins were Aislinn Cornell, Dani Sommerdorf, Gretta Bolstad, Amy Sherer, and Ellie Fromstein. The game was coined "Mud Bowl" given the rain and muddy conditions (see photos).
The next evening, the Hopkins Boys Varsity and JV teams defeated Edina as well, resulting in a clean sweep by Hopkins over Edina in the regular season.
The Hopkins girls start playoffs on Wednesday, June 5 with a match against Burnsville in Burnsville (start time 4:30). Both the boys and girls state championship games will be held at the Metrodome on Sunday, June 9.
