MINNESOTA 9-11 TRIBUTE CONCERT
FREE Family friendly and open to the public, early evening concert at Lake Harriet Bandshell on Thursday, September 11, 2014
The Minnesota 9-11 Tribute Memorial Concert takes place every September 11 at the Lake Harriet Band Shell celebrating life, America and each other.
On September 11, 2001, four coordinated terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda upon the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area on Tuesday 911. The attacks killed almost 3,000 people and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage.
This event is designed to honor those Emergency Responders, Military personnel, and citizens who lost their lives in the tragic attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the plane crash in Pennsylvania. It is also to honor those who served in the past and/or currently serve in the emergency and military services that protect our cities and country.

BEGINNING AT 5:00 PM we will be featuring diverse community groups and performers, led in by the Heroes of ‘76 and the MSFSMPB (Mn State Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band) followed by the traditional concert 7-8:30 pm.

The entire Minnesota 9-11 Tribute Concert is made up of VOLUNTEERS - including the Board of Directors who come together to plan the concert and program, ask for volunteers to participate, for donations from businesses and individuals ONLY to pay for the candles, music, printing programs and flags used at the concert.
Metro and State area organizations will be involved including American Legions, VFW and Fire and Police Department members, the ROTC’s and various Scout Troops. The Minnesota State Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band will be honoring us with their participation and coordination of an inter-service color guard, consisting of over 30 Color Guard units.
We are putting out a call to ALL FIRST RESPONDERS -- Fire, Police, EMS, ALL Military and Veterans to join us be honored and celebrate with us. ANY Boy scout, Girl scout troops PLEASE contact me for availability. We have an ASL INTERPRETER so we are requesting any one needing her services sit in the front reserved seating with those disabled and in wheelchairs.
The Minnesota 9-11 Tribute is performed by an all volunteer orchestra and chorus. The volunteer picnic prior to the concert is supplied via donations from Metro businesses.
