Main Street School of Performing Arts Present: Willy Wonka

Main Street School of Performing Arts (MSSPA) is putting together a large ensemble of actors, musicians, and crewmembers to bring the Broadway classic, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka to the stage in late February-early March. The production includes a cast of 48 students, a pit orchestra of 15, and a 10-student tech crew. An ambitious school-wide endeavor, it will be a family-friendly production, delighting audiences and showcasing the depth and diversity of MSSPA’s talented teens, and instructors. MSSPA will put a unique twist on the production by having females play the lead roles of Charlie and Willy Wonka.

“This is a big production,” said Director and MSSPA Theater Instructor William T. Leaf. “A large number of our students are participating. We have singers, actors, dancers, musicians, and a considerable tech crew. Thankfully, as the premier performing arts high school in the Twin Cities, we have the depth of talent to not only pull it off, but to do an extraordinary adaptation beyond what you expect from a typical high school production. It is also a tremendous learning experience for our students. We look forward to an amazing show, and invite the public to experience a fun performance, and witness the work of these dedicated, talented students.”

Show dates: February 28 - March 2 / March 7 – 8, 2013
