Incumbents Win Hopkins City Races

Gene Maxwell was reelected as mayor. Cheryl Youakim and Kristi Halverson were reelected to the City Council.

Hopkins voters handed mayoral and City Council incumbents a clear victory in the 2013 election.

Mayor Gene Maxwell dominated a race in which he won 77.9 percent of the vote. Maxwell was 1,021 votes ahead of runner-up Garold Healy—whose 12.11 percent this year was less than half the 25 percent he won when he ran in 2011. Anthony Ray Bostic was next with 9.54 percent.

In the City Council race, Councilwoman Cheryl Youakim came in first with 40.45 percent and 1,108 votes. Councilwoman Kristi Halverson was second with 34.83 percent and 954 votes.

The challenger who came closest was Rachel Seurer, who got 8.65 percent of the vote with 237 votes cast in her favor.

Filling out the pack was Mark Kociemba with 8.54 percent and Jeremy Grenz with 7.3 percent.
