(VIDEO) 'Avenues' Carolers Serenade Hopkins

The Avenues Neighborhood Association shared the holiday spirit through song Sunday.

It may not exactly be a white Christmas this year, but that didn’t stop carolers from the Avenues Neighborhood Association from sharing the holiday spirit Sunday.

Neighbors met at Chapel View Care Center to sing to residents there and then divided into smaller groups to serenade the homes south of Minnetonka Mills with classic Christmas tunes while handing out candy canes.

The carolers weren’t always the ones handing out the treats, though. One woman caught as she wrapped up a day of baking gave cookies to the group lucky enough to sing to her.

After everyone finished singing, the neighbors gathered around a bonfire at a nearby home to enjoy cocoa and cookies together.

“It’s an attempt to get to know each other better and to just get out and have some fun,” said Lisa Klass, who’s on the association’s events committee.
