Hopkins Under Flash Flood Watch Through Thursday

There could be two to three inches of rain through Thursday afternoon.

Close those car windows. Bring the pets inside. Heavy rain is coming to Hopkins.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for southern and central Minnesota—including Hopkins—from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 1 p.m. Thursday.

A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and storms are forecasted to develop along a cold front that’s moving into the Great Lakes and Central Plains regions. Cities should see rainfall of two to three inches through Thursday afternoon, with totals in excess of that in some areas.

There could be localized flooding in flood-prone areas, with the potential for rapidly rising strings and ditches.
