Motorists will experience delays on southbound Highway 169 at Valley View Road and in both directions of Interstate 494 between East Bush Lake Road and Highway 212 in Bloomington, Edina and Eden Prairie due to a ramp closure and lanes closures beginning Friday, Oct. 26.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the right lane of southbound Hwy 169 will close between Valley View Road and Anderson Lakes Parkway.  Then at 6 p.m., the ramp from Valley View Road to southbound Highway 169 will close as crews begin rerouting traffic onto the permanent southbound lanes.  The ramp will reopen at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Oct, 27 and all lanes of Highway 169 will reopen at 9 a.m. that same day.

In addition, nightly lane closures will occur in both directions of I-494 between East Bush Lake Road and Highway 212 beginning at 7 p.m. tonight.  The lane closures will continue nightly through Friday, Nov. 2.  The lane closures are necessary as crews continue with construction of the westbound I-494 bridge to southbound Highway 169.  All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning following the closures and by 6 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 28.

The Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
