georgia was impressed with the team's reaction:

Good for the team--not for the great job they did, but for the forgiving and positive attitude toward the coach. I'm sure he feels bad enough. This is why we have kids in sports--to learn to react this way. The win only lasts short term, the experience will go with them forever. Congratulations Skippers!

Owner Says Prices Will Be Cheap at New Liquor Store in St. Louis Park

Liquor Boy will open on Nov. 26, and about it meghan said:

Really, another liquor store? Don't get me wrong, I like to drink as much as the next person, however SLP is only 10 sq miles round and I believe we've already met our quota of liquor stores. Last count I made off the top of my head was about 12 actual liquor stores, plus a wonderful craft beer store (The Four Firkins) and an awesome brewery (Steel Toe Brewing). At some point, I will visit them at least once to see what they have to offer, however, I will continue to support the other merchants that have proven their knowledge, longevity and uniqueness of offerings.

Edina Officials Left Out of Airport's Flight Rerouting Discussion

Local residents and Edina officials alike were upset late last week over a possibility of certain areas of the city seeing a significant increase in airport traffic as part of new navigation plans the Metropolitan Airports Commission was set to review.

City of Edina officials said they were never given any sort of warning of the significant change, and were not granted the same opportunity to learn about the issues as other communities impacted by aviation noise.

Reader sj commented on the story, saying one of the impacted neighborhoods has long been ignored by city officials:

I did not see a map of the proposed flight plan or a description of its boundaries, to know what part of Edina will be effected. Due to our proximity to Richfield and Minneapolis, I assume that it is the area in which I live. Nor did I see how to contact the MAC Board members. On the website linked to in the article, I saw only how to send a comment to MAC in general (which I did), but not how to contact individual Board members.

I have long called this area the "stepchild" of Edina because the Mayor and other City officials seem oblivious to us this a residential area. Instead they see us only as part of the Southdale commercial area, ignoring our needs as a residential neighborhood as a result. But due to the density of the housing here, we represent a large number of Edina citizens. Many of whom are older. This may have something to do with why they didn't consider it worthy of their attention from the beginning.

Also concerning is that there is are two nursing homes, including a senior citizen campus, just down the street, and Southdale Fairview Hospital is a mere half mile away.

Coin Toss Determines Sorensen Re-Elected to Albertville City Council

After a recount and long discussions about voter intent on a challenged ballot that would decide who won the city council seat, a split vote by the council lead to the last resort — deciding the outcome through a coin toss.

With all the talk of voter intent, Will questioned the coin's intent:

Look at that coin photo, I'm not sure the intent of the coin is clear!

Medical Examiner IDs Hopkins Man as North Minneapolis Murder Victim

Hopkins resident Kerry Scott was identified as the man who was found beaten to death late Saturday night in North Minneapolis. The medical examiner has declared his death a homicide.

Amber said he was a neighbor who will be missed:

Kerry lived next door to us and was a very kind and pleasant man. Saddened to hear this news and will miss hearing him singing or humming to himself outside while out in the yard.
