Freeze Warning Issued for Hopkins

Temperatures should drop to 26 degrees overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Hopkins is set for another night of freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service declared that a freeze warning will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A freeze warning means temperatures below freezing “are imminent or highly likely.” The conditions threaten crops and other sensitive vegetation.

In Hopkins, there will be widespread frost at 1 a.m., with a low of about 26 degrees and winds between 7 and 17 mph. The frost will continue until 10 a.m. Tuesday should see a high of about 46 degrees.

“Not only will temperatures be well below freezing, but the below freezing readings may last for a few hours, which could be particularly detrimental to tender vegetation and fruit trees, which are budding in some areas,” the weather service stated in its warning.

The following night also looks to be cold. The weather service forecasts frost from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday, with an overnight low of 26.
