(VIDEO) Local Talent Goes to Fair

Stella Rouge performs for over a thousand State Fair-goers.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll. Whether it's playing bars, clubs or parties, it can be very difficult to get on a big stage with a big crowd.

Hopkins resident Thea Clayton got a chance to perform in front of more than a thousand people, thanks to the MN State Fair Talent Competition.

She was joined on the Leinie Lodge stage with her Stella Rouge bandmates Kelly Martin, Carl Noren and Josh Prodahl. They were limited to four minutes, so they performed "Medicate", a '90s-style rock number that echoed bands such as Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots or Pearl Jam.

Selected from a pool of over 600 musicians, they performed as part of the Semi-Final Open Talent Competition with a handful of diverse musicians.

"Even if we don't win, we're really lucky to get this far," Thea said.
