‘Main Drag’ Car Show Coming to Hopkins July 28

The show features custom hot rods, motorcycles and 'rat rods.'

The third and final car show of the art center’s Velocity 2 exhibit roars into Hopkins on July 28.

The “Main Drag” is an invitational car show featuring custom hot rods from the 1950s and earlier. There will also be a selection of motorcycles from the early 1960s and “rat rods,” which are vehicles stripped down to the bare essentials and rebuilt with whatever the builder can find.

“This is a hand picked selection of custom hot rods,” a news release quoted organizer John Hagen. “The home builders have expressed their art in the form of cars. We’ve also included a newer category of cars—rat rods. This is a highly creative segment of the hot rod world.”
