Little Free Library: A Literary Message in a Bottle

Follow these books on their journey around Hopkins.

Once upon a time, children and wonder-filled adults would slip a message into a bottle, cast it into the ocean and anxiously wait to hear where the waves had carried their words.

Waves are in short supply in Hopkins. But the appearance of a new at 13th Avenue North and Fourth Street provides another opportunity to cast words into the unknown and see where they come ashore.

Hopkins Patch invites you to follow along with this literary message in a bottle.

I’ve put two of my favorite books into Hopkins’ Little Free LibraryThe Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle and The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. Inside each front cover is a note asking borrowers to photograph the book in front of a favorite Hopkins landmark and post the photo on this page with the date they picked up the book.

As the days, weeks and months pass, residents will be able to see how many of their neighbors have shared in this reading journey.
