North Memorial Health Care, in partnership with The Davis Group and United Properties, will break ground today on the new Minnetonka Medical Center. City and state officials, North Memorial staff, project developers and local residents will be on hand for the event from 4-6 p.m.
The new Minnetonka Medical Center is located along Hwy. 7, west of I-494 and will offer a collaborative care model consisting of the following:
- Primary Care
- Specialty Care
- Urgency Center
The 63,000 square-foot facility in Minnetonka will house North Memorial’s second Urgency Center. Its first location in Blaine opened in April. The new Urgency Center in Minnetonka Medical Center will be a fully-equipped emergency department staffed by board-certified ER physicians from North Memorial’s Level I Trauma Center.
It will have much of the same capabilities as a hospital emergency department and will treat patients with serious medical conditions such as chest pain, sports injuries, kidney stones, fractures, cardiac arrest, pneumonia, abdominal pain and concussions.
J. Kevin Croston, MD, president of provider and outpatient services and chief medical officer at North Memorial, says the organization has operated a successful primary care clinic in Minnetonka near Ridgedale for more than a decade.
“We are very proud of our connection with this community and look forward to expanding access to care for patients in the west metro area.”
