Patch Picks: Earth Day Celebrations

This year celebrate Earth Day by participating in one or more 'green' fairs or celebrations throughout Hopkins and Twin Cities.

Learn about composting, gardening, organic recycling, energy efficiency improvements and other “green” initiatives. The fair will also include drawings, free composting and seedlings, and discounted items.

Protect your identity, organize your life and recycle paper that you don’t use—doing a service to the environment as well as your file cabinets.

  • When: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday
  • Price: $5 per box; proceeds benefit ICA foodshelf and ResourceWest.

 

Como Zoo’s Party for the Planet

Celebrate the earth by visiting some of the animals that populate it. This year is a big-cat themed party callled "Cats & Kilowatts." Many family activities will be available, along with entertainment.

  • Where: Como Zoo and Conservatory, 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul
  • When: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. April 22 - 24
  • Price: Free;  a voluntary donation of $2 for adults and $1 for children is appreciated.
