Hopkins Police Department Takes the Plunge

The icy dip in Lake Calhoun benefits Special Olympics.

Members of the Hopkins Police and Police Reserves, along with relatives and friends, participated in the annual Polar Plunge on Saturday at Thomas Beach on Lake Calhoun. Over half a million dollars has been raised for the Special Olympics so far.

The Hopkins team raised $5,764.00 to help Special Olympics Minnesota athletes in its first time participating in the event. The team members said the cold that they felt when hitting the water only lasts for a moment but the awareness and support lasts forever.
