Hopkins Homeowner Pleas for Peace

With Syrian hostilities coming to a head, a sign outside a Hopkins home makes the case for peace.

As the president prepares to talk to the American people about Syria, there’s at least one sign in Hopkins of the nationwide reluctance to engage in the conflict.

The United States and France accuse Syria of using chemical weapons in an attack outside Damascus on Aug. 21. Syria denied responsibility, although it admitted for the first time Tuesday that it has chemical weapons.

President Barack Obama had been advocating military action until a proposal emerged for Syria to turn over its chemical weapons, open its sites to investigators and cease production. Obama is now set to discuss Syria in an address at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

On Fifth Avenue, though, one homeowner is making a case for peace.

“The Real + Lasting Victories are those of PEACE And NOT of a WAR!” a sign outside the home reads.

What do you think of the conflict? Should the United States respond with military strikes? Should it wait to see what kind of deal can be brokered? Or should it stay out of the conflict altogether?
