Non-profits are making their mark by offering valuable services to residents and visitors.

Every city has a history. In Hopkins, the Hopkins Historical Society chronicles the city's events, maintains a museum of important city artifacts and stores historical records. Staff historians are available to answer questions about the Hopkins' history, and the society has recently published a book about the city.

Helping Paws, Inc. is dedicated to the procurement and training of service dogs for people with disabilities not related to sight or sound. Helping Paws also has a breeding program started in 2002 to breed the traits and characteristics of desirable service dog trainees. Volunteers are always needed for fostering dogs, special event planning and other administrative duties.

Sponsoring prayer vigils, teen drop-in centers and other faith based outreach programs, Lutheran Community of Grace strives to provide the community with a place to worship and fellowship.  The organization is currently featuring a weekly meeting for parents needing contact with other parents every other Wednesday evening.

Since the recession, many families have struggled to put food on the table, provide their children with warm clothes for the winter or give their families a happy holiday season due to lack of funds.  ResourceWest assists families and individuals with bridging that gap and provides education and referrals on other county and city services available to citizens. 

 

Minnetonka Life-Care Center

Providing prenatal care, birth control and education to teens and adults alike, the Minnetonka Life-Care Center, which is located in Hopkins despite its misleading name, offers services free of charge.
