Young People's Concert - Hopkins HS Orchestra

The Hopkins High School Orchestra will perform their "Young People's Concert" from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the MALL AREA of the high school.   Prior to the concert, beginning at 6 PM there will be face-painting, balloon animals, snacks, and an "instrument petting zoo" where children can try out various orchestra instruments.

The music, directed by Andrew Bast, will include selections from Disney's Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey Mouse March and Do, Re, Mi. 

Admission is free.  Children are invited to wear their pajamas, bring their favortie stuffed animal and a blanket to sit on.  Many orchestra members will be wearing their pajamas too.

Hopkins High School draws students from all or part of seven of the metro area's western suburbs: Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, St. Louis Park and Plymouth. It is the state's first National School of Excellence and helps students excel in a variety of arenas. Fifteen Advanced Placement-specific courses, plus fifteen more subject areas that correspond to AP course descriptions, offer students a shot college credit. It offers up to six levels of language instruction in American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German and Spanish. Students interested in technology can study advanced television production, obtain A+ Computer Technician Certification or use the school's state-of-the-art music production lab. Opportunities in the fine arts also abound, including several choir and musical groups, theater and art courses.
