More About Hopkins Public Schools Eisenhower Elementary School
Eisenhower Elementary is a school focused on helping students thrive in a global society. The school is a "peace site," meaning it emphasizes teaching students with different backgrounds and experiences to work together.
Technology is an important part of the classrooms. All fifth graders receive a laptop to use each day and take home each evening. Teachers of third, fourth and fifth grades have interactive white boards. Every classroom has amplification systems to make it easier for students to hear.
XinXing Academy is probably the most unique part of the Eisenhower campus. The academy is a Chinese immersion program that began in 2007. It is a full immersion program in which immersion teachers use no English at all in the early years. Students from across the district and the Twin Cities are enrolled in the academy through open enrollment.
The University of Minnesota's Confucius Institute designated the school's classrooms as Confucius Classrooms, opening access to grants and training materials.
XinXing currently has two sections each of full-day kindergarten and first through third grades and will continue to add a grade level every year through the sixth grade.
