Gethsemane Lutheran Church parishioners have been worshipping in Hopkins for more than 100 years. It began as a place of worship for farmers, factory hands and small business owners, but it now enjoys the full diversity of the west suburbs. The church - part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America synod - offers a variety of activities for worshippers, whoever they might be. The church also reaches out to others in the community while working to educate itself. Its Hospitality Plus committee, for example, teaches the congregation about issues in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.
